Six Hodges Loizzi Attorneys to Present at IASB Joint Annual Conference

Six Hodges Loizzi attorneys will share insights on various school law topics at the upcoming Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) Joint Annual Conference on November 20-21 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

Barbara Erickson will join Chat Watkins, Associate Director/General Counsel of IASA, in presenting “Superintendent Employment Contracts” on Saturday, November 20 at 12:30 p.m. Moderated by Kaitlin Atlas, they will discuss important elements of employment contracts for superintendents with opportunity for the audience to ask questions.

Michelle Todd, Jessica Nguyen, and Kaitlin Atlas will present “Inside an Expulsion Hearing” on Saturday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. Together, they will act out an expulsion hearing and provide best practices for managing these hearings.

Heather Brickman, Cindi DeCola, Michelle Todd, and Kaitlin Atlas will combine their knowledge of school law challenges in a “Coffee & Conversation” panel entitled “Legally Stumped?” on Sunday, November 21 at 8:30 a.m. Their presentation will address the most pressing topics facing school boards, including managing public disruptions at board meetings, mandating vaccinations for staff and students, Title IX considerations, and accommodating transgender students.
