ISBE Releases Faith’s Law Template Forms

By , February 22, 2023February 28th, 2023News

Beginning July 1, 2023, public and non-public schools and school contractors must begin conducting employment history reviews for all applicants for employment who will have direct contact with students or children. The employment history reviews are in addition to required fingerprint-based criminal background checks. Schools and contractors will complete the employment history review process utilizing new template forms that ISBE has prepared and just published on its website.

While the employment history reviews are not currently required, schools should take steps now to review their procedures to ensure they are prepared to begin implementing this requirement on July 1, 2023. Please contact Chris Hoffmann or any attorney in our Labor/Personnel practice group for any questions related to the employment history review process or Faith’s Law.

Relatedly, for a deeper dive on these forms and implementing Faith’s Law, we invite you to join Cindi DeCola, Hodges Loizzi Senior Counsel, and Dr. Kimberly Chambers, Director of Human Resources at Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125, for what is sure to be an informative webinar in partnership with IASPA. The webinar is March 8 from 12:00-1:00, and registration is now open.
