Hodges Loizzi partners Cindi DeCola and Tony Loizzi will lead a practical discussion surrounding collective bargaining in an upcoming Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) regional workshop on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. CT.
The workshop is intended for new superintendents with one to three years of experience. In their session, Cindi and Tony will help attendees to understand:
- The legal requirements under the Labor Act
- The unique vocabulary of bargaining
- How to prepare for the bargaining table
- How salary schedules work, how to “cost-out” proposals, and how to get creative
- Strategies for success
Cindi and Tony both serve as lead counsel to numerous school districts. In addition to general Board matters, their practices span the full range of personnel and labor issues – including employee investigations, union organizing campaigns, employment contract negotiations, and reductions-in-force. Cindi and Tony have each negotiated hundreds of collective bargaining agreements and “MOUs,” and they’re pairing together for this workshop to share their collective wisdom and experience.
IASA is the state’s premier advocacy organization for school administrators with nearly 1,750 members and a history of promoting excellence in education dating back to 1946. IASA offers members high-quality professional development that strengthens the work of superintendents and prepares future leaders for the superintendency.
