As an associate in the firm, Ebony Smith concentrates her school law practice in the areas of labor and personnel issues. Ebony represents employers in all phases of employment matters including those pertaining to employee discipline, harassment and discrimination, onboarding and separation of employment, collective bargaining, wage and hour matters, and employment contracts. In addition, Ebony also regularly counsels school districts on compliance issues arising from the intricate web of local, state, and federal laws and regulations impacting employers.

Ebony helps her clients navigate an ever-evolving labor and employment landscape. School leaders turn to her first when confronted with novel changes in law due to her ability to quickly understand complex changes in local and national legislation. Ebony brings a unique perspective and set of abilities to her work resulting in proven and effective results in managing employee discipline investigations, administrative proceedings, and grievance arbitrations.

In her spare time, Ebony enjoys cooking and performing with the Chicago Bar Association’s Bar Show.
